Our Junior Firefighter program allows teenagers from the ages of 14-17 to join our team and see if firefighting is something they want to make a career of. On top of that, the Junior Fire Academy that we host every year is recognized by the Missouri State Fire Marshals Office, and awards a Basic Firefighter certification upon completion.
Our Junior Firefighter program is ran by a Lead Advisor and 5 Assistant Advisors who help mentor the Juniors.

Each June, Sullivan hosts the Sullivan Junior Fire Academy. The Junior Fire Academy is a week-long, in-residence training academy that provides classroom and hands-on training. Juniors from all over the state spend the week with us and learn how to safely and efficiently get the job done on the fire ground. Our Jr Academy is recognized by the Missouri State Fire Marshal's office. In addition to the State certificate, the Juniors that successfully complete our Academy also receive their Basic Firefighter Certification. It is a long week of hard work and fun.
Below the Lead and Assistant Junior Advisors are the Junior Officers. The Junior Officers are Junior Firefighters that have been on the department for a couple of years and have proved themselves as a leader and someone that newer Juniors can look up to.
